Standpipe Operations: Having the correct size hose line is imperative! As seen here lengths of 2 ½” hose are being used and will deliver the appropriate flow. You can also see that the nozzle is a smooth-bore which will also enhance your firefighting ability. To many times we see that Fire Departments across the country short change themselves by operating with 1 ¾” hose lines on standpipe operations. You should truly re-evaluate your operation to see if you have the appropriate flow for the fire load you will encounter. Along with the right size hose line, properly storing your hose line is necessary as seen. This technique is covered in depth in our Engine Company Operations Class.
