QUICK TIP - SEARCH ROPES

Monday, May 17, 2010  Search Ropes are a must for large areas, commercial buildings, and even for the occasional private dwelling. Practice makes perfect with this piece of equipment and proper deployment will make or break your operation. Notice the way the lead firefighter carries the rope bag around his should, this allows for easy deployment. Secure the rope to an exterior landmark along with an ID tag attached to the exterior piece.  This technique is covered in depth in our Large Area Search class.

QUICK TIP - FIREFIGHTER REMOVAL

Monday, May 17, 2010  Firefighter Removal (SCBA/Harness): In the attempt to remove a brother Firefighter from the dangers of a fire building, what’s your move? Utilize the SCBA and the personal harness to make a drag device. This should be second nature during such a high adrenalin situation. Also make sure there is an air supply for the downed Firefighter. This particular drill is covered in depth during a FAST/R.I.T. class.
